OUR TRIPS
All of our hunts originate from our base camp near Flagg Ranch, 56 miles north of Jackson, Wyoming. If you are flying into Jackson Hole, we can not offer transportation to and from the airport as our crew is usually in the mountains when you arrive. We will provide transportation from your hotel in Jackson Hole to the base camp on the beginning day of your trip. If you are driving to the area, parking is available at the trailhead.
We offer a large hunting area, 12 miles by 16 miles, which supports a good resident elk herd as well as one of the largest migratory Yellowstone elk herds passing through the region. The best hunting dates vary from year to year based on the weather, which influences the movement of game animals.
The area we hunt is between 7,500 and 9,000 feet in elevation, therefore, it is physically demanding and requires the hunter to be in fairly good physical shape. The success ratio for hunting from a wilderness pack-in camp varies each year. Weather, your hunting skills and plain old luck all play a part. The kill percentages each year consistently run between 65-75% on elk and 100% on moose. The success ratio is between 80-90% on elk; success meaning game that is either killed, missed, wounded or turned down. Elk area 71 consistently produces the best bull elk in Wyoming. |
